2012 Dark Ages/Founders Day Dinner & Dance
Come join us at a retooling of the annual classic Founders Day/Dark Ages Party. This year's event will be at the 57th Fighter Group restaurant at Peachtree DeKalb airport on February 18th at 6:30. We will have our own room, adjacent to the bar and dance floor, complete with DJ (we will have to supply the dancers ;-) ).
We'll start with a no host happy hour and appetizers, and move to a dinner buffet with three main dishes (chicken, beef, and fish to be named later or pasta dish – but how can we not have fish at a NAVY party - right?, salad, veggies, garlic potatoes, and two desserts).
Here's the twist: Dress Code is Navy/Marine Corps Aviation Casual, with flight suits, unauthorized organizational clothing, or USNA spirit gear encouraged. Of course we won't have guest speakers, since with that many Naval Aviators in the room they wouldn't get a word in anyway. We're not sure if we're going to give a door prize or call and infraction on the first person caught "shooting his watch." (Think "there I was, 20,00 feet, flat on my back....")
Cost per person is $41 including tax and gratuity.
If you haven’t been there, the theme of the restaurant is WWII fighter squadron, complete with P-51 and trucks, jeeps, artillery outside and command post with tons of memorabilia inside. It is adjacent to the runways at PDK, so you can see and here the air traffic coming and going. If we get there a little early, we'll watch some of the "amateurs" who actually try to make their landing soft! (We'll forgive them for lack of tailhook.)
