2010 Chapter Dues Mailer

As of this year, we are no longer offering the print version of the newsletter as a standard membership option. (If you need print communications, you probably aren't reading this on-line anyway! The savings the Chapter realizes due to reduced printing and postage costs are passed on to you as a reduced membership fee.) Note: To receive notification of the posting of on-line newsletters and of Chapter events, subscribe to the Chapter list server, USNAAAAMAIL.

Annual Membership Types/Fees:

Regular Membership with Web Communications, $25.00/year: all benefits, with an electronic monthly newsletter, published here.(http://www.usnaaaa.com/.) For a limited time only, you can pay your 2010 and 2011 dues for only 30 dollars! The deals get even better if you join for multiple years!

Married Alumni Membership with Web Communications, $35.00/year: This membership type for a husband/wife who are both alumni, and includes all benefits with an electronic monthly newsletter published here. http://www.usnaaaa.com/

Active Duty Alumni with Web Communications, $10.00/year: This membership type is only available for alumni on active duty who are either stationed in Georgia or whose home of record is Georgia. This membership type includes all benefits with an electronic monthly newsletter published here. http://www.usnaaaa.com/

Satellite Membership with Web Communications, $10.00/year: This membership type is designed to allow Georgia alumni who live well outside of the metro Atlanta area to support and enjoy the Atlanta Chapter. IMPORTANT: Satellite memberships are reserved for Georgia alumni who live OUTSIDE of the following 20 county Atlanta Metro Statistical Area: Barrow, Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Rockdale, Spalding, Walton. (You qualify for Satellite membership only if you do NOT live in these counties.)

Membership Defined

For the purpose of the Atlanta Chapter, a "member" is a person who:

Is a USNA alumnus.
Is domiciled in the Atlanta Chapter territory.
Pays the annual Chapter membership fee.

However, for the purpose of representation on the Board of Trustees of the National USNA Alumni Association, a Chapter "member" is defined as a person who:

Is a USNA alumnus.
Pays an annual Chapter membership fee.
Is also a member of the National USNA Alumni Association!

Atlanta Chapter Membership Benefits

Your annual membership fee entitles you to certain benefits, including:

The camaraderie of getting together with fellow alumni on a regular basis for lunch and at some popular and fun events during the year. Non-members may attend this events also, but at slightly higher rates
A monthly newsletter. The newsletter contains event schedules, stories and articles of interest to all alumni, follow-up reports on events, and much more.
A copy of the biannual U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association Atlanta Chapter Membership & Georgia Alumni Roster. This directory is a professionally produced, electronic publication with over 100 pages containing an alphabetical list of the over 1200 alumni in Georgia, their addresses, home and work phone numbers, and email addresses, as well as a listing by class! A great benefit!
Special name tags for you and your better half that we all wear to events so we can learn to match names with faces more easily!
Representation on the Board of Trustees of the National USNA Alumni Association - IF we maintain our top nine Chapter status.

How do I Join the National U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association?

As previously mentioned, National membership is important to the Atlanta Chapter.

We need national members to maintain our top twelve chapter status!

Chapter Membership History

In 1997 the Atlanta Chapter had just over 300 members. That sounds good, but maybe not, considering there are about 1300 alumni listed in our Chapter Directory! In 1998 we only had 276 members (only 258 of which are members of USNAAA National). That's not good! Here's why:

Membership fees support the Chapter's activities and events.
(More fees equals better activities and events.)
Membership fees provide the ability for us to communicate and provide member benefits.
As of 2000, the top nine Chapters in the country, by membership, get representation on the Board of Trustees of the National USNA Alumni Association. We get a voice! We help form policy!
(Note that to count in the tally you must be a member of USNAAA National as well as a member of the Atlanta Chapter!)

1999 Membership Update: In 1999, after a well planned and executed fourth quarter membership drive, the Atlanta Chapter again just topped the 300 member mark! Congratulations, and good for us!

2000 Membership Update: In 2000 the Atlanta Chapter again topped the 300 member mark, but we didn't make the top nine chapters and had to rely on one of the three new "other chapter" positions to retain our trustee's seat on the National Board.

2001 Membership Update: In 2001 the Atlanta Chapter had 302 dues-paying Chapter members. However, only 266 of those were also members of the National USNA Alumni Association, so only 266 count toward our total. We will need to get our numbers up in the next two years in order to get back into the top nine Chapters to regain a seat on the National Board of Trustees.

2002 Membership Update: In 2002 the Atlanta Chapter again topped the 300 member mark, but only 275 of those were also members of the National USNA Alumni Association. As such, we fell out of the top nine chapters by only 3 members! We need to get our numbers back up in the next two years to regain our trustee's seat on the National Board.

2003 Membership Update: In 2003 the Atlanta Chapter had 297 dues-paying Chapter members. However, again, not enough of those were also members of National to get us into the top nine Chapter list.

2004 Membership Update: In 2004 the Atlanta Chapter had 343 dues-paying Chapter members. Only 304 of those were also members of the National USNA Alumni Association. That placed us as the 7th largest chapter! Congratulations to all involved! We are back in the top nine and reclaim our seat on the Board of Trustees!
