NAVY
WINS
107th Army-Navy
Football Game!
Navy 26 - Army 14
Commander-in-Chief's Trophy stays
in Annapolis for four straight years!
Naval Academy Alumni and friends gathered at
Pepperoni's Tavern in Alpharetta on December 2nd to out-cheer the
attending West Pointers and watch Navy win the 107th meeting of Navy and
Army on the gridiron. Navy has now won seven out of the last eight games!
This win extends Navy's lead in the overall series record which now
stands at Navy 51, Army 49, Ties 7.
Navy fans
had two early scares in the beginning of the first quarter! Army
scored first on a double-reverse. Next, we lost our leading rusher Midshipman
Adam Ballard to a broken leg during our first
possession! Surely not the start that we were hoping for. Though we
didn't pay well by our own standards, Navy came back strong during the
game and prevailed in the end with scoring help from the defense.
Just in case
you didn't notice, we actually rated a write-up in the special College
Football section of the Sunday, Dec 3rd, Atlanta
Journal-Constitution. We even rated a headline on the first page of
that section! (We may have to thank Jim Ravenel '45 for this, since
every year he sends an email to a select Atlanta Journal columnist,
shaming them for not giving more coverage to "one of the most storied
rivalries in college sports!" )

Midshipmen
Top Army for a Service Sweep -
Navy's Seniors 8-0 Against Cadets, Air Force.
Middies Make it Five Straight Over
Cadets
Associated Press - Philadelphia
With a pair of rushing touchdowns and a defense that
produced two scores, Navy sent its seniors out with another win over Army
and a career sweep of the service academies.
Jason Tomlinson and Reggie Campbell each ran for
touchdowns to lead Navy to a 26-14 win over Army on Saturday in the 107th
meeting in one of the storied rivalries in college sports.
Keenan Little returned an interception 40 yards for a
touchdown late in the fourth quarter for bowl-bound Navy (9-3). The
Midshipmen equaled their longest winning streak in the series, most
recently from 1959-1963. Navy has outscored the Black Knights 202-68
the past five years and boosted its overall series lead to 51-49-7.
"We're fortunate we don't have anybody on our
team that's lost to another academy," Navy coach Paul Johnson
said. "That's a real goal to aspire to. It will sink
in."
Navy captured the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy,
awarded annually to the winner of the football competition among the three
major service academies, for the fourth consecutive year.
Navy's senior class is the first in team history to
finish 8-0 against Army and Air Force.
