Navy vs Air Force Game

Navy Beats Air Force 27 - 24, with Last Second Field Goal!

About 23 faithful (Navy and Air Force) gathered at Jocks & Jills in Brookhaven to watch a thrilling, nail-biting contest that Navy won by a field goal with 0.4 seconds remaining!

Craig Martin, J&J manager, wore his NAVY Jersey to bring us luck. Attending were Navy alums, AF alums, Navy and AF parents, and guests at the only place in town where you could watch this and almost all Navy games on CSTV.

The winning field goal of 46 yards in a blowing rain was kicked by #39 Joey Bullen 3/c from St. Simons Island, GA.  Navy's offense was led by #2 QB Lamar Owens 1/c from Savannah, Ga, who had a great Navy Day running and passing.  #7 Slot Back Reggie Campbell 3/c from Sanford, FL., scored the tying TD with a 40 yard run that made it 24-24 with a just minutes to go.  # 34 Fullback Matt Hall 2/c from Cape Coral, FL. looked like a worthy successor to Kyle Eckels with some running bursts up the middle.  On Defense, one of the top tacklers was # 40 OLB David Mahoney 2/c from Ft. Myers, FL.  Does this sound like Coach Johnson is plowing fertile ground recruiting in the Southeast like was predicted from his fame at Georgia Southern?

By the way, the top defender of the day for Navy with 21 tackles was #57 ILB Rob Caldwell 2/c from Indiana, who has a chance to break the single season tackles record at Navy of 169 in 1982 set by Andy Ponseigo '84, Atlanta based Delta Pilot.

Don't forget, Jocks & Jills Brookhaven is the only place in town where you can watch Navy Home games and some others, like the rescheduled Navy-Rice game at 6:00 pm on Saturday 22 October from Houston.
