Chapter President Bill Rentz '55, USNAAA Atlanta Chapter

As the new chapter officers get into their duties as the new chapter Board of Directors, I would like to strongly encourage you as members to know who the officers are and to freely communicate with them. Their names, duties, and phone numbers are published in the chapter newsletter and on the web site. One of our first tasks will be to firm up and flesh out the activities and social schedule for the upcoming year 2003 and 2004. We need your input and help. If you have ideas and thoughts about how these activities can be improved to appeal to more of the membership, please speak up and give us your input. Call any member of the Board that you feel comfortable communicating with no matter what his or her duties may be and that member will bring it up to the entire board for discussion at the next meeting; sooner if need be. The board meets each month on the Tuesday evening before the Chapter monthly luncheon.

The monthly luncheons and chapter meetings are the third Friday of each month at Jocks and Jill’s in Brookhaven and will remain there until further notice. Speakers of interest are being sought constantly and we will happily take suggestions and help in that area.

Here is a rough list of other activities being noodled, some subject to change:

Sometime in the fall: Dinner at Jocks and Jill’s on a Friday or Saturday night

October 11, 2003: Navy at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Caravan or Bus, tailgate with Knoxville/Oak Ridge Chapter at Vandy Stadium

October 25, 2003: Homecoming – Delaware at Navy followed on October 27 by USNA Ethics and Leadership Seminar. Chapter President invited to participate. Contact: Bill Rentz

November 10, 2003: Atlanta Touchdown Club – Navy Coach Paul Johnson guest speaker. Contact: Stew Caldwell

December 6, 2003: Army vs. Navy at TJ’s Sports Bar in Roswel

December 13, 2003: Chapter Christmas Party at Bill & Sue Rentz home in Locust Grove, GA. Contact: Bill Rentz

Late Jan/early Feb 2004: Founders Day/Dark Ages Party, location to be announced

Late March/early April 2004: Vernal Equinox Dinner at Hampton House – Southside. Hampton, GA. Contact: Bill Rentz

May 2004: 8^th Annual Army Navy Golf Classic at Ft. McPherson. Contact: Will Wood

June 5 or 6, 2004: LobsterFest! Red Top Mountain State Park or City of Atlanta Water Works facility. Contact: Mike Herger

As soon as more details are firmed up and a contact person is noted we will publish the news. In the meanwhile, please share with us your ideas and spread the word to your classmates, neighbors, shipmates, and old friends who you notice are not participating in chapter activities. We need and strongly want their participation, and besides - they will enjoy it. And if they don’t enjoy it they can tell us how to make it better.
