Have you checked the Chapter web site at WWW.USNAAAA.COM lately?

The Chapter’s web site has been up and running since December of 1998.  It has progressed from a few pages of pertinent information to nearly a hundred pages with nearly two hundred digital pictures.  The web site, along with our USNAAAAMAIL e-mail list server, now serves as our primary means of communication with area alumni.

The Chapter web site is divided into six main sections.  Here’s what you can do at each one:

EVENTS CALENDAR:

This area lists any special events planned for the year.  Events are listed as soon as their scheduled dates are known.  Event information such as date, time, place, reservation requirements, etc. are all provided.  MapQuest maps with driving directions are usually included.  Reservation forms to print and mail in with your payment are provided when appropriate for the event.  Check this area regularly to see what events are “coming soon”.

NEWS & INFO:

This area is divided into four subsections:  Current News & Info, Old News & Info Archives, Newsletters, and President’s Corner.

“Current News & Info” contains information on all recent events.  Reports on just-held special events with pictures, monthly luncheons and luncheon speaker summaries with pictures, plus late-breaking news for all Chapter members and area alumni.

“Old News & Info Archives” contains all the archived information that was previously published under Current News & Info.  This area has complete coverage of all Chapter activities back to December of 1998, when the web site was first established.  Lots of great articles on some very special visitors to Atlanta, including the Commandant of Midshipman, the Superintendent of the Naval Academy, the President and CEO of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, U.S. Congressman, and local State representatives, etc.  Plus some great articles and pictures from past Army-Navy Football Game parties, annual LobsterFests, and more.

“Newsletters” contains on-line copies of our Chapter newsletters.  These newsletters are PDF (portable document format) files that can be read and printed on line using Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free for downloading from Adobe’s internet site.  Instructions on how to get Acrobat Reader for free are included on our site.  (Since we are trying to phase out printed hard copy newsletters that are snail-mailed to members, please sign up for a “Web-type” membership each year if you have internet/e-mail capability.)

“President’s Corner” contains copies of the articles written each month by the current Chapter President that are published in the Chapter newsletters.

MONTHLY LUNCHEON:

This area contains information about the Chapter’s monthly luncheons.  Dates, places, cost, and scheduled guest speakers are all listed.  If a guest speaker is scheduled, their bio is usually included on a link.  Currently our luncheons are held the third Friday of each month at the Jocks & Jills Sports Bar & Restaurant in Northeast Atlanta directly across the street from the Brookhaven MARTA station.  Any change in venue due to a particularly special guest or an expected large crowd will be announced on this page.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

This area contains a table listing all of the current officers that comprise the Chapter Board of Directors, as well as those serving in official board support positions.  Contact information (phone numbers and e-mail address) is listed for each officer.  Should you need to contact any of the board members, this is the place to go to find out how to find us!

MEMBER SERVICES:

This area is divided into six subsections:  Become a Member, USNAAAAMAIL List Server, Active Job Searches, Job Opening Postings, On-Line Change of Address Form, and On-Line Store.

“Become a Member” contains instructions and forms to use to sign up for Chapter membership.  It also contains a list of member benefits and information on how to join the National USNA Alumni Association.  National member status is important in determining our official Chapter member count when vying for representation on the National Board of Trustees.

“USNAAAAMAIL List Server” contains information about our official Chapter communications group e-mail list and how to subscribe.  Subscribers to the list are notified of upcoming events, reservation requirements, event cancellations or rescheduling, posting of electronic newsletters on the Chapter web site, etc.  An average of only 3 to 4 e-mails a month are sent to subscribers… you will not be spammed!  If you are not a subscriber, you are “out of the loop!”

“Active Job Searches” contains the resumes and contact information of Atlanta area alumni who are currently involved in an active job search.  To get your resume listed, contact the USNAAAA webmaster via e-mail.  Please remember to check this page regularly and pass along any job leads, or networking contacts, etc. to those alumni conducting a job search.

“Job Opening Postings” contains a list of job openings that have been forwarded to us by alumni who have job openings at their companies, or otherwise know of open positions in the Atlanta area.  If you have a job opening to post, contact the USNAAAA webmaster via e-mail.

“On-Line Change of Address Form” contains an on-line form that can be used to notify the Chapter of any change in your personal information, such as a change in your mailing address, phone number(s), e-mail address, etc.  Fill in the form and click the “Submit” button to forward your updated information directly to the Chapter VP of Information Services.  No paperwork, no envelope, no stamp!  What could be easier?

“On-Line Shop” contains USNA/Navy related items that are currently being sold by the Chapter.  When new items become available, they are added to this page.

RELATED SITES:

This page lists links to other sites of interest to area alumni, such as:  the U.S. Naval Academy site, the National USNA Alumni Association site, the Georgia Parent’s Club site, the Navy League, the U.S. Naval Institute, plus World War II and Vietnam Veteran sites, and more.

VISIT THE CHAPTER WEB SITE REGULARLY TO STAY INFORMED AND STAY ACTIVE IN THE CHAPTER!

And… “BEAT ARMY!”
